A perfect day greeted skiers for the second of the Don Sumanik races, held on Saturday on the Mount McIntyre ski trails.

The duo of David and Janelle Greer duplicated their victories in the previous weekend's race, taking the open men's and women's categories and winning the overall series titles handily.

Their names now join such notables as Becky Scott, Lucy Steele and Alain Masson on the storied race trophies.

The race was skied in classic technique and used the ski club's north trail system, developed for the upcoming Canada Winter Games. The tracks were fast and skiers were hitting warp speeds through the notorious scoop, which claimed more than one victim during the day's festivities.

David took the open men's 10-kilometre race with his time of 30:40, with Colin Abbott and Sam Lindsey claiming the remaining podium spots.

Athletes competing in the open women's category skied five km and Janelle took top honours with her time of 18:25.

Bryn Knight finished in second place while Brittany Smith picked up the bronze.
