For basketball fans, Porter Creek Secondary School was the place to be on Saturday for the Grade 7 basketball championships.

For the Christ the King Elementary School Wolverines, it was a day of celebration as both the girls and the boys’ teams both earned new banners to be hung on the gym walls.

In the girls’ finale, the Wolverines took the court against the team from Elijah Smith. The Wolverines were able to control the game, doubling up Elijah Smith 33-15 on route to the championship.

Regardless of what happened in the boys’ championship game, the title was going back to CKES as it was an all Wolverine final.

Taking third place was École Émilie Tremblay.

The basketball action continues as the Superhoops semifinals go tonight at Vanier. The PCSS Rams will take on Vanier in the girls’ match. F.H. will take on Vanier in the boys’ game
