Mountain View Golf Course and Meadow Lakes Golf and Country Club are each hoping to have players out on the course as early as next weekend.

Mountain View will be opening their driving range next Tuesday, April 24.

They're hoping to have the front nine available the following weekend and the back-nine the weekend after.

"I would say the whole course should be open in two weeks,” said Jeff Wiggins, CPGA Head Golf Professional at Mountain View.

"We were a little bit behind in the middle of the March but over the last month we've caught up and now I'd say we're even slightly ahead of schedule,” he said.

At Meadow Lakes, they have a projected opening date of next weekend, weather dependent.

"The snow's gone pretty quick so we're shooting for next weekend,” said Johnny Enns.

"A couple of weeks ago it wouldn't be that optimistic but over the last 10 days or so the snow has really disappeared.”

Wiggins said he and the other staff at Mountain View have been keeping busy by waking up the greens.

"We've been removing the snow from the greens and pulling back the tarps so the grass can get a little bit of sun,” he said.

"And then putting the tarps back over and letting the greens sleep for the rest of the day. We do that process over and over again until they're ready to go permanently.

"We're just trying to do a good job of maintaining the playing conditions and

standards we've had in the past and make them even better.”

At Meadow Lakes, Enns said the fairways are pretty much clear of snow.

"We've got a bit of snow left in some areas but things are looking good,” he said.

Enns said the club will be continuing their efforts to get youth involved in the sport by offering free golf for junior members that play with a paying adult.

The club is also offering a loyalty reward program this season.

"You buy a punch card and the more you play the less you pay,” he said.

There are also spots available for the men's league, which will run on Monday and

Tuesday, and the ladies league will take place on Thursdays.
