Jessica Frotten is only two meets away from finding out her Paralympic fate.

The Whitehorse native, who trains out of Saskatchewan, competed at the 2016 Fast Cow Invitational in Indianapolis over the weekend.

She was the second Canadian finisher in two events and the first Canadian in a third.

With the 200-metre off the schedule at the Rio Paralympic Games, Frotten is focusing her energy this summer on three events: the 100-metre, 400-metre and 800-metre.

She has her A-standard time in the 100, but is still chasing it the 400 and 800.

Those standards eluded her in Indianapolis as the outdoor meet was drenched in rain.

“That makes everyone’s times a bit slower on a wet track,” she said. “You just have no grip in the wetness.”

Frotten has had a busy season so far, with races in North America and Europe almost every other weekend.

“You can’t race when you train and you can’t train when you race,” she said. “It’s kind of taken its toll on me. I’m feeling bagged.”

Frotten is on a rest week right now before she heads to Sherbrooke for another meet, one she’s optimistically hoping will be dry.

In July she will head to Edmonton for the Olympic and Paralympic Trials.

The Olympic and Paralympic teams will be announced July 11 in Edmonton.
