It was dark out, but still 41 people showed up for Friday night’s Night O Meet hosted by the Yukon Orienteering Association.
Orienteerers wearing headlamps competed either individually or in groups.
Forest Pearson won the expert category handily in a time of 45 minutes and 43 seconds, or more than four minutes ahead of second-place Benoit Turcotte. Caelan McLean was third in 56:01.
Jennifer MacKeigan, the only woman to compete in the expert class, finished in a time of 61:39.
In the advance category, Erik Blake took first place with a time of 49:46. Ross Burnett was second in 54:16 and Bryn Knight was third in 65:42.
Sara Nielsen and Judith Van Gulick teamed up to win the intermediate class with a time of 57:50, or just over a minutes faster than the team of Jana Brant and Matthias Hartmann. Carla Winter and Matthew Hitchcock were third in a time of 66:34.
Adney Karais and Krystal Karais finished first in the novice class in a time of 31:30. Stian Langbakk was second in 33:11 and Kieran Horton, Johannes Benkert and Brian Horton were third in 33:12.
