Whitehorse Minor Soccer’s indoor season came to an end with some thrilling finals last weekend.

Five divisional crowns were up for grabs with games held at the Canada Games Centre and Yukon College.
The weekend-long event was sponsored by Northwestel.
U7
Team Purple, which also happened to be an all-French team, won gold Sunday. The squad had previously lost in the Toonie Tournament, so this was redemption of sorts.
Team White walked away with silver after playing well all tournament. White prevailed in a very close semifinal to get them to the championship game.
The final score was 5-2.
Castle Rock Enterprises (yellow) won bronze. The team lost most of their games in the first half of the season, but the players’ hard work and dedication showed as they won bronze.
Sports Experts 9 (royal blue), called the Blueberries by their coach, played well all weekend, dropping the bronze medal game by one goal, 6-5.
U9
Titan Gaming (lime green) won gold after a hard-fought semifinal. Every player on the team scored a goal at some point in the weekend, showing true teamwork.
Team Royal Blue lost after taking their semifinal game in overtime. A very driven squad, they all fought hard for every goal, showing excellent teamwork and sportsmanship.
The final score was 6-3.
Yukon Yamaha (red) won bronze with hard work from all team members.
They got goals from all players throughout the tournament, and had lots of fun playing together.
Subvert (purple) lost in a nail-biting semifinal that went to overtime, but came to the bronze medal game with great passion.
They worked well as a team and put up a good fight.
The final score was 6-4.
U11
It’s Lunch Time (white) came out ready to win – and did just that.
They won four out of five of their games in the tournament, and just kept getting better with each game.
Their strong teamwork and great goalkeeping kept them in the game.
Meanwhile, Creative Works (grey) played well. They had many goal-scoring opportunities in the final and lost by a narrow margin, but were great sportsmen to the end.
The final score was 3-1.
H. Bjork Holdings (maroon) took the bronze, having only lost one game all tournament to the gold medal-winning team.
Good passing and teamwork helped them win third place, and they were fun to watch.
Team Yellow lost by a narrow margin but were phenomenal all weekend.
Their teamwork and skill improved over the season, and were always great to watch and cheer on.
The final score of the third-place game was 5-3.
U13
Marble Slab (brown) played hard all weekend en route to a gold medal win.
After beating Haines Junction in a shootout Saturday, the gold medal rematch was sure to be a close game.
Both teams fought hard, but it was Marble Slab who came out on top 4-3.
The Haines Junction Eagles came to the tournament with a competitive nature and ready to play. They won all but one game – losing to Marble Slab. The final was hard-fought, and a pleasure to watch.
Meanwhile, in the third-place game, Selectricity (lime green) came out on top 8-6, with lots of scoring for both teams.
All players contributed to the win, and the depth of the team was shown in this game.
Alpine Aviation (red) lost by only two goals. The whole team played well, and all players improved through the season.
U16
Having lost to The Deli (blue) in the round robin, Vector Research (red) had a score to settle in the championship game.
Both goalies played very well, and with so many opportunities for both teams, they are what kept the game so close.
Both teams played well through the season, and showed up for the tournament to play hard.
In the end, Vector Research was the team still standing thanks to a 2-1 win.
Meanwhile, Dawson Ryan-Wood showed up in Whitehorse and immediately started to win.
They won all of their games in the round robin, claiming first place after four games.
While they lost to The Deli in the semifinals – their only loss all weekend – it made them more determined to win the bronze.
All-Terrane Mineral Resources (orange) had struggled through the tournament, but showed up ready to give it their all for the third place game.
They played hard, but they couldn’t hold off the Dawson team, losing by a final score of 6-0.

Just to clarify on the headline reporting. This past weekend's championship was Yukon Soccer Association's - Yukon Championships - not Whitehorse Minor Soccer's.
It is a Championship designed for all youth teams across the territory not just Whitehorse based teams.
