Feature Foods wins close five point game in Women's Basketball League action

Both the Kopper Kweens and Feature Foods kicked off the start of the Whitehorse Women's Basketball League with wins Sunday at F.H. Collins Secondary School.

Both the Kopper Kweens and Feature Foods kicked off the start of the Whitehorse Women's Basketball League with wins Sunday at F.H. Collins Secondary School.

The Kopper Kweens won its contest by a decisive score of 62-38 over Takhini Gas, while Feature Foods downed Airport Chalet 42-37.

The Whitehorse Women's Basketball League will feature weekly games at F.H. Collins on Sunday, with the first game beginning at 7 p.m. and the second game at 8:15 p.m.

The league will also have games at Vanier Catholic Secondary School on Thursday with the first being played at 8 p.m. and the second at 9 p.m.


Kopper Kweens 62, Takhini Gas 38

Ann Jirousek led all scorers with 22 points in her team's win over Takhini Gas, while Michelle Massie also put forth a very solid performance, netting 19 points.

Marie Cairns led Takhini Gas in scoring with 18 points.


Feature Foods 42, Airport Chalet 37

Angella Ell led the way for Feature Foods with 14 points.
