FCBLY: Wolf Pack Basketball Above-35 Champs; Under-35 going down to the wire

In Filipino Canadian Basketball League Yukon (FCBLY) action Saturday night, Wolf Pack Basketball clinched the 35 Over title with a second straight win over Canadian Tire.

In Filipino Canadian Basketball League Yukon (FCBLY) action Saturday night, Wolf Pack Basketball clinched the 35 Over title with a second straight win over Canadian Tire. Canadian Tire did make a game of it in the second half after trailing by nearly 20 points in the first half.

Top scorer for the Wolf Pack was Rich Thompson with 22 points. Finals MVP Kevin Octavio netted 19 points, while Dustin Heffner and Sean McCarron added 14 each, McCarron with deadly outside shooting.

For Canadian Tire, Season MVP Bon Bon Posecion drained a game-high 41 points, followed by Noel Pagobo with 13 points.

FCBLY's 14th season awards were also handed out on Saturday night. The 35 Above awards were as follows:

The Sportsmanship award went to Kevin Octavio of Wolf Pack Basketball.

In the 35 Under Finals, Cornerstone Construction defeated Tri Omni Property Mgt. 97-92 in a tightly-contested game which mirrored the series, now tied 1-1. Game 3 will be on Saturday November 13 at 6:00 p.m. at F.H. Collins high school will be the champion for the 35 Under division.

Season MVP Bryan Hermosa led Cornerstone with 30 points. Kevin Octavio drained 24, Soliel Stimson netted 19, and Ralph Hermosa chipped in with 14 points.

Jo Aying was the leading scorer for Tri-Omni with 26 points, Josh Rumbaoa dropped 20, EJ New chipped in with 12, and Chad Williams added 11 points.

The Sportsmanship award was given to Chad Williams of Tri Omni.

In the Grade 8-10 Division, MPM defeated Pizza Hut 69-57.

The top scorer for MPM was Pier DeLeon with 17 points. Enrique Miral chipped in with 14 points.

For Pizza Hut, Chris McCarron netted 21pts and John Musiime added 19 points.

In the second game, the Air North Jets triumphed over All-Pro Yukon Restoration 72-56.

Top scorer for Air North was Isiah Cabiso with 27 points. Nathan Hirsh drained 14 and Gabe Thomson chipped in with 12 points.

For All Pro Yukon, Jeff Rumbaoa netted 19 and Chase Tuton dropped in 14 points.
