The climb involves conquering an increase in elevation of almost 600 metres along a 6.4-kilometre road that snakes back and forth up the hill, over a relatively steep and short distance the way the crow flies.

In third place in the male category of 24 participants was Jason Mackey in a time of 41:30, followed by Tedd Tucker in fourth at 43:00 and Petr Polivka in fifth at 43:31.

Kristy Petorello placed first in the female category of 17 runners with a time of 47:17. Sarah Johnson posted a 48:01 for second and Lorrie Greer was third with a time of 48:11.

In the female walkers category, Bonnie Love and Becky Striegler crossed the finish line together in first place, with a time of one hour, four minutes and 45 seconds.

Catherine Simpson was the next fastest with time of 1:11:43 for second.

Rachel McRorie and Jacob crossed in 1:14:56 and MaryAnn Ferguson covered the 6.4 kilometres in 1:16:57.
