Earls pulls away as squash season winds down

A stellar second half of the season will have Earls Restaurant entering the Div. 1 squash playoffs as clear favourites later this month.

A stellar second half of the season will have Earls Restaurant entering the Div. 1 squash playoffs as clear favourites later this month.

With just one week left in the regular season, Earls has emerged as runaway leaders, a clear 40 points ahead of second-place Outside the Cube.

Earls walloped Better Bookkeeping 24-8 Tuesday night, with each of Tyler Nesgaard (3-2), Gary Tanner (3-1), Glenn Rudman (3-1) and Shahid Syed (3-0) earning victories.

Outside the Cube lost to Aurora Geosciences, meanwhile, by a score of 18-13.

Yukon Tree Services nipped TSL Contractors 16-13 in the third game at Better Bodies Fitness.

Meanwhile, in Div. 2, Yukon Brewing leads second-place Bluewave Energy by 37 points.

Last night, Yukon Brewing hammered Yukon Transportation Museum 18-8 on the strength of wins from Andre Benoit (3-1), substitute Mackenzie Cameron (3-0) and Everett Igobwa (3-0).

In other action, Coast High Country Inn topped Sterling Insurance 19-11 and Electrical Shop edged Riverstone Dental Clinic 17-15.

Following next week’s final regular season games, the two divisions will move into playoffs.
