With no sign of a thaw in the current Whitehorse deep freeze, the second Don Sumanik race has been postponed.

Since the temperature for Saturday – when the race was scheduled to take place – is still well below the race cut-off of -20 C, the event won’t be held, said race director Kyle Power in an email.

The classic race had already been rescheduled from last weekend, when it appeared temperatures would be too cold for racing.

With a busy schedule of racing and club events, the next available day to host the race is Jan. 28.

The cutoff for local races is -20C for race distances of 15 km or fewer and for atoms and peewees, it is -15C.
