Disc golfers enter dog fight for top spot at Mount Mac
With eight of the Whitehorse Disc Golf League's top 10 in attendance – possibly the strongest field of the year – there was a real dog fight for the win at the Mount Mac course Tuesday night.
With eight of the Whitehorse Disc Golf League's top 10 in attendance – possibly the strongest field of the year – there was a real dog fight for the win at the Mount Mac course Tuesday night.
Ultimately it was Jesse Devost, currently second in league standings, who shot three under 53 to take the top spot.
Hard on Devost's heels was a pack of three players at two under: Alastair Smith, Vince Fedoroff and the cagy old veteran Dave Griffiths.
I asked Griffiths after his round, "What's your secret to consistently low scoring?”
To which he replied, "An eraser.”
Rounding out the top five was Dan Reimer with an even par (56).
You know it's a tough field when par only gets you fifth place.
League leader Matthew Grant limped in with a less than stellar two over 58, good enough for seventh place.
The top 10 in league standings as of Aug. 31 are:
1 Matthew Grant – 151.0
2 Jesse Devost – 138.5
3 Vince Fedoroff – 116.0
4 Dan Reimer – 91.0
5 Howard Chymy – 80.5
6 David Griffiths – 76.0
7 Alastair Smith – 66.0
8 Richard Vladars – 63.5
9 Carl Pearce – 56.5
10 Alex Oberg – 34.0
