In a round that had fans weeping on the final tee, Jesse "The Arm” Devost tied Mount McIntyre's course record at league night Tuesday.
With a stellar -10, Devost joined "Powerhouse” Dan Reimer as the only disc slinger to hit negative double digits on Whitehorse's premier course.
Devost came out strong with birdies on one, two, three, five, six and seven on the front nine followed by birdies on 13, 15, 16 and 17 on the back.
Reimer finished out the evening at minus eight with four birdies on the front nine and five bogies on the back nine, good enough for second place.
Humble as always, Devost engaged in no bragging, opting instead to sign autographs to the teams of would-be fans waiting for him at the last hole.
"I've never seen anything quite like the combination of power and finesse that Jesse came out with tonight,” said last year's league champion Matthew Grant, who himself finished in third place at minus seven. "The rest of us were simply out-played.”
Other great scores abounded with Vince "the Man in Purple” Fedoroff shooting a minus one in his debut round this year, Richard Vladars shooting an impressive minus three and Alistair Smith shooting an even round.
Al Fozard and Dave "Grandmaster” Griffiths were donating their time to charity Tuesday evening and were unable to attend league night much to the disappointment of fans.
