Devon Slade still red-hot; EDI continues netting strong results in WOHL action

Shawn Kinsella scored the game winner on a pretty three-way passing play early in the second period as Kilrich edged Yukon Inn 2-1 in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Sunday at Takhini Arena. Kinsella finished off a tic-tac-toe (usually in oldtimers it's tic-tac-no) exchange with Marcel Barrault and Chris Nash for the winner. Nash got the other for the construction crew, while Greg Lane replied for the Inn.

EDI 5, CapriCMW 1

Five different snipers connected for EDI in this win, their 11th victory in their last 12 games. Bulging the twine were Geoff Quinsey, Derick Bilodeau, Gus Morberg, Bernie Heffner and Willy McKenna. Arlo O'Riordan replied for Capri, and Brian Power was stupendous in net for the green guys.

Firth 6, Titanium Storage 3

Devon Slade continued his scoring onslaught with three more for Firth, and Eric Chalmers, George Morgan and Peter Johnston added solo efforts. Titanium talliers were Scott Palfreyman with a pair, and Jeff Hunston.

Tim Hortons 5, Air North 2

Josh Savill served up a hat trick to lead Tims to their seventh win in a row. New dad Reggie Laguerre and Dave Wipf also scored in the win. Jason Steele and Dave White connected for Air North.

Thursday

Firth 11, CapriCMW 4

Devon Slade ripped home six goals, Jeff Kalles and Marcello Masone each swatted in a pair, and Kevin Topping got the other. Replying for Capri were Dermot Flynn, Arlo O'Riordan, Cody Wilkinson and Ben Campbell.

EDI 6, Yukon Inn 1

Willy McKenna and Gus Morberg scored twice each for EDI, and Lorne Burnett and Geoff Quinsey rounded out the scoring. Erik von Flotow was the lone marksman for the Inn.

Wednesday

Medicine Chest 7, Titanium Storage 6

Seven different players registered goals for MC in this wild win – Geordan Clark, Jeremy Germaine, Michel Dubois, Mervin Jacobsen, Gerry Brandt, Jamie Cairn and Phil MacDonald. For Titanium, it was Russ McDiarmid with a pair (one top cheddar), and singles from Kyle Rolling, Gary McKellar, Peter Kirby and Scott Palfreyman.

Kilrich 6, Air North 3

Chris Nash popped a pair for Kilrich, and Ben Kielb, Marcel Barrault, Shawn Kinsella and Mark Bowen also netted markers. For the Flyers, it was Mike Jim with two and Dave White with a solo rip.

EDI sits atop the league standings with 37 points (18-5-1). The Medicine Chest (16-6-1) and Timmy Ho-Ho's (15-6-3) are tied for second with 33 points apiece.

The Chest's Jamie Cairns continues to lead the scoring race with 53 points (21 goals, 32 assists). Tim's Josh Savill is second with 50 points (32 goals, 18 assists). EDI sniper Gus Morberg sits third with 46 points (27 goals, 19 assists).

Speaking of snipers, the sizzling Devon Slade has moved into fourth with 43 points. He's now the league leader in goals with 34. Savill sits second with 32 and Morberg is third with his 27 snipes.

Cairns is the assists leader with 32 apples. Multiple players trail Cairns in the assist department in second place with 19 apples each.

Tim's Paul Dainton continues his stellar season in goal, leading the league with a minuscule 1.58 Goals Against Average. The Chest's Gerald Tetlichi is a distant second with a 3.32 GAA. Kilrich's Jim Antonisson rounds out the top three with a 3.71 GAA.

Tetlichi leads the league in goalie wins with 15. Dainton and Antonisson are tied for second with 13 wins apiece.
