The VeloNorth cycling club's fourth event of the season saw the largest field to date, as more than thirty cyclists turned up for the Porter Creek time trial.
Called the 'race of truth', where it is simply the rider against the clock, time trials tend to let you know in a hurry what condition you are in. Judging by the times put in over the demanding 10.8-kilometre loop course, there will be some fine performances in the upcoming Kluane to Chilkat International Bike Relay.
Leading the charge in the men's expert class were Jonah Clark and Stephen Waterreus, who both covered the 21.8 km in exactly the same time of 33 minutes and 20 seconds. Some 12 seconds back, Glen Iceton rounded out the top three.
In the women's expert field, Katherine Sandyford picked up her second win of the season with an excellent time of 39 minutes and 29 seconds.
Fresh off his outstanding road race last weekend in the men's sport class, John Berryman topped that field by over a minute, with a time of 35 minutes and 11 seconds.
One of the other notable performances of the night was put in by Kelty Hollingdale in the sport women's field. The sport women only had to race one lap of the course, and Kelty not only posted the fastest time in her class for her lap, but then continued on and rode a second lap that was only one second slower than her first.
Finally, Ted Dean posted his second win of the season taking the men's novice class.
