July promises to be a very busy month for cyclists in the Yukon.

There is the Tour de Whitehorse a three-stage road race from July 27 through 29 a VeloNorth Road Race on tJuly 18, and a new event being put on by the fine folks that bring you the annual Marsh Lake Loppet on July 15.

All that, plus the fourth in a series of time trials put on by VeloNorth, held Wednesday evening.

The Carcross Cutoff Time Trial course is by all standards not an easy ride. It runs south on the Alaska Highway starting at the junction of the South Klondike and the highway approximately 8.75 kilometres. Riders then turn and head back to the start.

Twenty-six riders started the event, going off at 30 second intervals, and all encountered very mixed and constantly changing riding conditions. There was sun, clouds and rain, along with wind and then no wind, and temperatures in the mid-teens.

Fastest on the night was Mike McCann in the men's expert class, covering the course in 24 minutes and 12 seconds.

Expert rider Duchane Richard posted the fastest time by a woman, finishing in 30 minutes and twenty-seven seconds.
