CWG Tuesday results update

The Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta., are in full swing so let’s check in to see how the Yukon athletes faired during Tuesday’s competitions and look ahead to what they will be doing today.

The Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta., are in full swing so let’s check in to see how the Yukon athletes faired during Tuesday’s competitions and look ahead to what they will be doing today.

We start in the pool with artistic swimming. The Yukon had two athletes competing in the solo female event. Ella Laliberty scored 56.1000 on her routine and Helene Macquire received a 55.8667. Both athletes improved upon their scores from Sunday. The two don’t compete again until Thursday.

In biathlon, Emma Marnik and Amèlie Latour competed in a 7.5-kilometre sprint. Both biathletes fell into the top 30. Marnik grabbed 27th and Latour got 30th.

The boys raced a 10-kilometre sprint. Jake Draper yet again put up the best result so far by a Yukon athlete coming in seventh. His teammate Romeo Champagne placed 23rd and Aiden Hupè did not finish the race.

The Yukon will be well represented today in slopestyle skiing. Kyran Allen, Chris Arsenault, Max Logan, Neil Mikkelsen, Tristan Munright Muir, and Niko Rodden will all be competing.

Gymnasts Bianca Berko-Malvasio and Hailey Sherman competed in the artistic - all around event on Tuesday. The two competed in beam, floor, uneven bars, and vault. Berko-Malvasio came in 29th with a cumulative score of 32.124, while Sherman place 32nd with a total score 30.174

The hockey team lost their first four games and it has not yet been posted when they will play next.

Two short track speed skaters competed this morning. Caius Shepherd Taggart-Cox came third in his heat with a time of 49.236. Micah Taggart-Cox finished second in his heat in 47.105. It is yet to be decided if the two will be racing later today.

In female singles table tennis , Raghvi Sharma saw some success Tuesday winning her first two encounters before dropping her last. Ming Huang picked up a win this morning and all three table tennis players will play later tonight.

In boys’ singles, the Yukon team did not pick up a win on Tuesday all will have the opportunity this evening to get into the win column.
