The Whitehorse Curling Club will be hosting playdowns this weekend that will determine which team will represent the Territories at the Canadian Senior's Championships in March.

Two Whitehorse teams and two Northwest Territories senior men's teams will compete in a double round-robin play this weekend to determine a winning team for the Canadian Senior's Championships.

The championships will take place in Ottawa, Ont. from March 20 to 28 this year.

This weekend, two Whitehorse club senior men's teams skipped by George Hilderman and Gordon Zealand will lead their experienced teams over six games.

Members of both of these Whitehorse teams have represented the Yukon at the National Senior's Championship in past years, so they are looking to gain that berth once again.

Two Yellowknife senior men's teams, skipped by Steve Moss and Jack MacKinnon are also here with competitive senior team members looking to secure a trip to our fair capital to represent the Territories this year.

As well, two Yellowknife Senior women's teams skipped by Ann McKellar-Gillis and Wendy Ondrack have competitive team members looking to do their best on our ice conditions here against our

Whitehorse club Yukon Senior women's team skipped by Colleen Hemsley.

The club took time put of Thursday's opening ceremonies to recognize Suzanne Bertrand, a former senior competitor herself and an outstanding volunteer with the Yukon Curling Association and the Whitehorse Curling club.

The competition for determining senior territorial representatives will be held at the Whitehorse Curling Club until Feb. 21. Draw times began Thursday.

Draws continued today starting at 10 a.m. and again at 3 p.m., Saturday at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and will finish on Sunday at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
