Two teams scored with their goalies pulled to earn ties as close play was the theme of the day in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Sunday at Takhini Arena. The other two games were one-goal affairs, making for nail-biting action across the board.

AON 5, Tim Hortons 5

Blaine Demchuk stuffed home the game-tying goal with only 15 ticks on the clock to give AON the tie. Robert Vance, Scott Palfreyman, Rick Gingell, and Mervin Jacobsen also scored for the Flames. Geordan Clark recorded a double-double (two goals, two assists) for Tims, and linemates Mike Gau and Gerry Brandt each scored one. Pete Mostyn rounded out the scoring.

Kilrich 3, EDI 3

Peter Johnston had a grand night, netting the game-tying goal with only 28 seconds on the clock for Kilrich. Chris Nash and Dave White also lit the lamp for Kilrich. Rick Smith, Mike Sage (yet again) and Marcel Barrault supplied the offence for EDI.

Yukon Inn 3, Medicine Chest 2

Greg Charlie scored a controversial goal with 1:13 left to lift the Inn over EDI. On-ice officials huddled for several minutes on the ice, while league officials at the head office in Carmacks reviewed the play to see if the net had been dislodged prior to the goal. In the end, the call on the ice stood. Charlie scored another earlier and Shawn Kinsella also tallied. For the Chest chaps, it was d-men Bill Cullen and Al Hansen with the markers.

Air North 5, Firth 4

Air North remained unbeaten as Wynn Griffith and Gary Jerome each netted two goals, and Dustin Heffner added a solo effort. Gord Campbell scored twice for Firth, and Mark King and Mike Jim also hit the back of the net.
