Chau’s hat trick powers Goody’s Gas past Oilers

Huy Chau scored a natural hat trick in the second period to lead Goody’s Gas past the Envirolube Oilers 5-2 in Rec B hockey action last night.

Huy Chau scored a natural hat trick in the second period to lead Goody’s Gas past the Envirolube Oilers 5-2 in Rec B hockey action last night.

After Goody’s Gas jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Cary Goodman and Robert Dawe, the Oilers came back to tie it on two goals by Patrice Brunet.

Then Chau went to work, scoring at 13:42, 4:42 and 3:32 to complete his three-goal night.

Meanwhile, in Rec A action last night, ORC beat the Firth Rangers 7-5 thanks to a hat trick by Gibson Pearson and two goals from Tim McIntosh.

Pearson’s natural hat trick came in a span of 3:32 in the second period and gave ORC a 5-2 lead.

Firth would close to within a goal before McIntosh’s scored what would stand up to be the game-winner with 4:37 left in the game.

Mike Wilson and Matt Horsey also scored in the win, which handed Firth just its second loss of the campaign.

Ryan Gleason and Chad Thomas each had two goals for Firth, with Jon Rudolph adding a single.

ORC was coming off a 5-1 Halloween victory over the KBL Environmental Mustangs.

In that game, Scott Horsey scored three goals, with Chuck Hombert and Matt Horsey rounding out the scoring.

Ryan Troke had the lone goal for the Mustangs in the loss.

In Rec B action Friday, Yukon Inn demolished the CRB Nighthawks 8-2.

Luke Pinard and Harold Risby each sniped hat tricks in the win, with Shane Crowell and Wayne Risby rounding out the scoring.

Marc Kroeplin had both goals for the Nighthawks.

Tobler, Van Randen help EDI douse Flames

EDI earned their second win of the oldtimer hockey season Sunday by dousing the AON Flames 5-1 at Takhini Arena.

Pat Tobler and Ed Van Randen both scored twice, with Clint Ireland adding a late insurance goal.

Mike Gau gave the Flames a 1-0 lead just 14 seconds into the game, firing a bullet past goalie Glen Traverse.

Sunday’s final contest saw the Klondyke Dental Molars beat Yukon Inn 5-3 thanks to two late goals.

Tied 3-3 with less than two minutes to play, Mike Jim scored an unassisted goal – his second of the contest – and Tim Turner-Davis added an insurance goal with 16 seconds left to ice the game.

Tony Park and Mike Knutson also scored for the Molars, while Adam Green, Greg Charlie and Shaun McLeod struck for Yukon Inn.

Action continues Wednesday.
