CCHL hockey resumed on Wednesday night, as four teams faced off in double-header action.

Game one saw the Dirty Northern Muckers take on the Precision Eavestroughing Predators. With the Muckers looking to drag the Predators into the CCHL basement. The Predators were looking to climb the ladder in the CCHL standings.

With the Muckers regular goalie, Brian ‘Real Deal’ Beal, out of the line-up, the Muckers called up Plastico Fiveholo from the Driveway Hockey League (it was the shooter tutor). Meanwhile on the other end of the ice, Sam ‘Snowman’ Oettli, took a break from making snow at Mount Sima to stand tall in the Predators net.

The game featured all the excitement as anticipated, as the Muckers finished the period with a 3-2 lead. The Muckers had goals scored by Angus ‘The Bull’ Cathcart, Pants, and Wes ‘Snipes’ Marsh. Whereas scoring for the Predators were Craig ‘Beef’ Van Lankveld, and Dan.

The second period saw a goalie change for the Muckers, as they picked up a goalie from within the CGC, which the Predators were eyeing as a back-up to Snowman come spring time. The second period also saw a defensive battle never seen in any league before, as no goals were scored by either team.

At the end of regulation, the Muckers defeated the Predators by a score of 3-2, and now both teams are mucking around in the basement of the CCHL standings. For now.

Game two in Wednesday’s double -header saw the Hyland Electric Bolts looking to shock the Yukon Benefits Sundogs.

Missing their Celtic spirited leader, Bolts G.M/player Breton Fraser, the Bolts looked to their squad of alternates to generate their offence. The Bolts found that charge in the play of Marc ‘Flash’ Emond.

With Dave ‘Big D’ Barrett and Neil ‘Bulldog’ Byblow anchoring the Bolts’ defence, they conducted a steady pulse through the neutral zone on multiple occasions. Finishing those plays was Emond, who had a hat-trick.

Despite Emond’s hat-trick, the Bolts’ charge simply ran out throughout the course of the game. The Sundogs proved to have a higher charge of offence, and saw goals scored by Tommy ‘Fresh’ McWhinnie, Mike Ross, Eric ‘Gotcha’ Gaucher, Dan ‘Boo-Ya’ Beudoin, and Graham ‘Method Man’ Cochrane (2). While the Bolts’ Emond had the more dazzling of goals, including a backhander that still has Sundogs goalie Kenny ‘Hacksaw’ Lindsay confused, Cochrane also scored a dandy himself, as he went forehand-backhand on a sprawling Bolts’ goalie, Chris Stewert.

In the end, the Sundogs defeated the Bolts by score of 6-3.

CCHL action resumes Saturday night, at the Canada Games Centre, when the Hyland Electric Bolts face off against the All-In Exploration/Mylner Electric Mad Trappers. Puck-drop is at 8:45p.m.
