The Arctic Edge Skating Club has a busy weekend, with over 60 skaters participating in a variety of tests and the Arctic Winter Games trials.

There are 40 tests to be taken by the 24 skaters that will be participating throughout the weekend at Takhini Arena. Saturday's Yukon Gold Nugget Interclub Competition will include 25 events featuring 60 skaters.

The weekend began this morning with dance partner Graham Casey arriving to begin work partnering up skaters for dance tests that will take place Sunday.

Starting at 6 p.m. tonight the first tests will be conducted in the free-skate.

Sunday morning starting at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Arctic Winter Games tryouts will happen together with the Yukon Championship event. Awards will follow immediately after the competition.

From 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. skills testing will take place followed by practice with Casey.

Sunday the skating continues starting at 9 a.m. with dance testing until 10:30 a.m. Casey will again take to the ice with skaters at 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. to lead the skaters in ice dance technique and enjoyment exercises.

Cheryl Van Blaricom said the events often start early, so spectators are urged to show up ahead of time.
