The Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League held their annual tournament this past weekend.

The tournament saw teams from all over the Yukon come to take home the gold.

In the B final, the Bulldogs overtook the Whitehorse Blue Veins in a 3-2 shootout win that saw no goals in the first, and all the action saved for the second.

The Blue Veins were the first on the board with a goal from Ron Sumanik, assisted by Mike Rispin and Steve Reynolds.

While the first goal can sometimes signal the future winners, the Veins were not so lucky, as the Bull Dogs followed less than a minute later with a goal from Duane MacDonald that was unassisted.

The Blue Veins got their lead back again, less than a minute later with a goal off the stick of Greg Charlie, assisted by Sumanik and Bill Bohmer.

This would be the Blue Veins' final goal of the game.

The Blue Veins stayed ahead until the final minutes of the game, and while it seemed they would be the winners, they were outlasted by the Bull Dogs who managed to tie things up with 2:33 left in the game.

The goal was scored by Jerry Dunham, assisted by Ranj Pillai and MacDonald.

The shootout winner for the Bull Dogs was credited to Adam Green to lift his team over the Blue Veins for the win.

The game was a rough one for the Bull Dogs, who served eight penalty minutes in the two periods, and a 10 minute game misconduct.

The Blue Veins had numerous power play chances, including a three-on-five, but were unable to turn the advantages into goals. The Blue Veins had no penalties in either period.

The Oldtimers league is beginning to wind down for the season, with the playoffs ready to start later this month.
