Haley Braga was the lone Whitehorse Glacier Bear to compete at the Western Canadian Swimming Championships in Kamloops, B.C., last month.

Glacier Bears Josh Kelly, Isabelle Parkkari, Erin McArthur and Alexandra Gabor each qualified for the event but chose to sit it out.

This was Braga's highest competition to date. She competed in the age national level last summer in the 13 and under age group.

Braga competed in the 15 and under category in Kamloops against very fast competition from western Canada most recently after having turned 14 earlier in the month.

She achieved a best time in the 200 metre freestyle with a time of two minutes, 12.11 seconds, good enough for 22nd. She placed 23rd in the 400 m free and 25th in the 800 m free.

Upcoming competitions for Whitehorse Glacier Bears swimmers include the B.C. AAA championships in Victoria from March 3-6, the Dino Cup in Calgary for 10 and under swimmers from March 19-20 and the World Championship Trials/Spring Nationals in Victoria from

March 30-April 3.
