Mountain bikers will get a chance to don their party hats tomorrow night.

The annual Boogaloo to Boréale, held by the Contagious Mountain Biking Club (CMBC), will kick off the season starting at the Magnusson Trail parking lot at Grey Mountain on Friday, with registration from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at $10.

The event will feature live bands for the first time ever, as well as a barbeque and a beer garden.

The race will offer a long course of 20-kilometres and a shorter course running 5 km.

"People who really want to test their fitness can go on the long course and people who are more about having fun can go on the short course,” CMBC president Sierra Van der Meer said.

"The event is for everyone. So people who want to go out and really race it are going to find that the course is excellent, it's really well flagged and it's a really fun single-track course. And people who just want to ride it for fun are going to find that it's a great course to ride, and that there's no pressure, lots of support – and they get to finish it off with a really big hamburger.”

The event will also feature the unveiling of the upcoming Toonie Race series, which will go every second week starting June 2 at Grey Mountain.

Part of what the Boogaloo to Boréale does is highlight the trails at Grey Mountain, Van der Meer said.

"It's a really great time to meet other mountain bikers and find people who you can go on rides with throughout the season. It's also just a really fun event.”
