Blood, Sweat and Gears once again top eight-person team

An Alaskan team took first place again this year, in this past Saturday's Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay.

An Alaskan team took first place again this year, in this past Saturday's Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay.

The Animals of Fairbanks, a four-person men's squad, finished the relay in six hours, 49 minutes and 15 seconds, more than four minutes ahead of the next fastest team. Their time was also more than four minutes faster than last year's first-place finishers, Les Schwab II from Juneau, who posted a time of 6:53:16.

While it was originally reported in Monday's Star that the four-man crew from Whitehorse, Up North Adventures, finished second in their category behind the Animals of Fairbanks, they were actually third. Tube tops claimed second place, with a time of 6:53:24.
