Hot on the heels of the City of Whitehorse's crack down on helmetless cyclists, the VeloNorth Cycling Club hosted a team time trial Wednesday night.

The club was happy to report everyone who participated had a helmet on.

In fact, there were 35 helmets competing. The 35 competitors divided themselves into eight teams and then took on a 50-km course that went from the South Access to just above the Yukon River Bridge and back.

The object of the race was to, as a team, cover the course as quickly as possible while working together. Teams could draft within themselves but they could not mix with or draft other teams.

The quickest team on the night was Water Water Everywhere, comprised of Scott Fraser, Stephen Waterreus, Marcus Waterreus, Jonathan Kerr and Ross Phillips. It took them a scant one hour, 18 minutes and five seconds to cover the course.

In second place was Bill and Friends, made up of Bill Curtis, Peter Heebink, Tim Arnholtz, Brad Roberts and Mike McCann. Their time was one hour, 19 minutes and 14 seconds.

Rounding out the top three was a team that obviously follows the local news and likes to be controversial, the Bylaw Breakers. They took the course in one hour, 19 minutes and 42 seconds.

An all-female cycling team made up of Michelle Rigoni, Lara Lewis, Andrea Wilson and Catherine Fussell was fifth overall and came across the finish line just seven minutes behind the winners.
