Biathlon Yukon hosted its inaugural Mountain Bike Biathlon Race last night.
The competitors biked a 0.8-kilometre loop twice and then shot prone, biked again and shot standing before biking their final two loops to the finish.
The event drew eight competitors out.
Ryan Burlingame, back from Augustana University for the summer, took the lead ahead of Jonathan Zaugg, new to adult winter biathlon, close behind. Connor Oliver-Beebe took third.
Jennifer Curtis took the lead over Erin Oliver-Beebe with the senior girls and junior biathletes, with Tristan Sparks and Jakov Tokic not far behind.
Coach Laurie Jacobsen showed her stuff with the young crowd by shooting clean on prone and tied as top gun with Erin Oliver-Beebe and Burlingame.
Biathlon Yukon will host its next Mountain Bike Biathlon Race on July 11.
The club is opening the event up to other interested competitors, and will host an orientation and practice session for the shooting side before the next race.
The group is also looking for volunteers to help out at these summer races.
Volunteers do not have to know the sport of biathlon since there will be training offered.
