Sixteen club records fell last weekend as the Whitehorse Glacier Bears travelled to Kamloops, B.C., for the TAS BC Provincial Long Course Championships.
The meet was attended by nearly 600 swimmers, including a 14-member contingent from Mexico.
Kirsten Berube made it to three A and two B finals in the girls 12-and-under age group, coming away with a sixth-place finish in the 400-metre free, seventh in the 100-m back and 800-m free, and eighth in the 200-m free.
Berube achieved a national age group time in the 200-m free, a highlight of the meet for her.
Alexandra Gabor won gold in the 100-, 200-, 400- and 800-m free, silver in the 50-m free and finished seventh in the 100-m fly.
Her performance was strong enough to win the points total in the girls 14-and-under age group, as well as the TAS Regional Athlete Development Award for the B.C. Northern Region.
Not to be outdone, Bronwyn Pasloski swam to gold in the 100- and 200-m breast, as well as the 200-m individual medley, in the girls 15-and-over category.
Pasloski was fourth in the 400-m IM with a personal best time and fifth in the 50-m free. She was the high point scorer in her age group as well.
Ten-year-old Craig Berube competed in his first AAA meet, coming away with a fifth-place finish in the 200-m IM and finishing sixth in the 50-m free, 100-m breast, 100-m back and the 50-m fly.
Berube came tenth overall in point for the boys 10-and-under age group.
Hayley Bielz, who recently moved up to the senior age group, equalled her best time in the 200-m free and swam the anchor leg to give the girls' senior relay team a respectable seventh place finish in the 400-m medley relay.
Molly Purser swam two personal best times, bettering her mark in the 50- and 100-m free in the girls 14-and-under age group. She swam with Ariana Edelman, Gabor and Pasloski to finish twelfth in the 200-m free relay in the senior girls category.
Tanner Cassidy had a number of tough races, including the 1500-m free, 200-m fly and the 400-m IM. Competing in the senior age group, Cassidy teamed up with Spencer Edelman, Brendan Zrum and Geoffrey Thompson in the relay events. Meanwhile, Jason Zrum took seconds off his best time in the 1500-m free.
Cassidy, Gabor, Pasloski and Brendan Zrum are currently training hard for the age group national championships, being held in Montreal July 19-23.
Most of the others have their sights set on the Western Canada Games in Edmonton early in August.
