Bartelen snipes hat trick for Goody’s Gas in win

Brett Bartelen recorded a hat trick – the first of his hockey career – to lead Goody’s Gas to a 7-2 win over the Envirolube Oilers Monday night.

Brett Bartelen recorded a hat trick – the first of his hockey career – to lead Goody’s Gas to a 7-2 win over the Envirolube Oilers Monday night.

Jamie Steeves (2), Jake Morash and Phil Urness also scored in the blowout win, while Anthony Grottoli and Leroy Wolfe responded for Envirolube in Rec B hockey action.

Meanwhile, TransNorth Helicopters picked up their first win of the season Monday with a 3-1 victory over Yukon Inn Boiler Room.

TransNorth’s Chris Pollard scored twice, while Taylor Love added an insurance goal.

Shane Crowell had the lone goal for Yukon Inn.

Goody’s Gas continues to lead the B league standings with a 12-2-1 record, followed by Boston Pizza-Polarcom at 11-3-1.

In Rec A action this week, the Firth Rangers beat Whitehorse Bobcat 8-2 to improve to 12-3 – good for second overall.

Clayton Thomas, Ryan Gleason and Simon Nugent each scored twice, while Ryan Hodgins and Neil Chambers added singles in the win.

Aren Coates and Chris Kostelnik had Bobcat’s goals.

Meanwhile, the league-leading Air North-KK Truck Rentals hammered the KDFN-New Age Warriors 12-2 to remain atop the league with a 14-1-1 record.

Adam Henderson had three goals and three assists, while Ryan Kinney also sniped a hat trick.

Evan Campbell added two goals and three assists, while Robbie Stuckey had a goal and three assists.

Not to be outdone, Jeff Gartshore added five assists, while Phil Harry, Adam Sills and Drew O’Connor had single goals.

Derek Johnstone and Jordie Alphonse managed to strike for the Warriors.
