Arctic Winter Games host society selects board members

After a lengthy decision making process, the 2012 Arctic Winter Games Host Society has announced that they have decided on 13 people to sit on the management board.

After a lengthy decision making process, the 2012 Arctic Winter Games Host Society has announced that they have decided on 13 people to sit on the management board.

President George Arcand made the announcement of the final list on Friday following a nearly three-month decision period.

"After approaching key candidates in our recruiting process I'm pleased to announce that our Host Society Board of Management now has a full compliment,” said Arcand.

Joining Arcand on the management board to help organize the 2012 Arctic Winter Games in Whitehorse will be:

– Dennis Shewfelt, executive vice president;

– Bev Buckway, board member;

– Brian Crist, board member;

– Robert Fendrick, vice president of administration and finance;

– Tracey Bilsky, vice president of athlete services;

– Denny Kobayashi, vice president of marketing;

– Jason Bilsky, vice president of sponsorship;

– Robb Andison, vice president of logistics;

– Laurel Perry, vice president of culture and ceremonies;

– Linda Rapp, vice president of venues;

– Don Pumphry, vice president of IT;

– Marie Cairns, vice president of volunteers and

– Vicki Dawe, vice president of sport.

"These men and women who have chosen to volunteer their time for our community will help ensure that the 2012 Arctic Winter Games are a success,” said Arcand.

The 2012 Arctic Winter games will be hosted at a variety of venues throughout Whitehorse, from Mount Sima to the Canada Games Centre to many of the local schools.

"With this team and the venues available in Whitehorse, I believe the 2012 Games will exceed expectations,” said Arcand.
