AON Flames complete amazing comeback

The AON Flames proved their determination and character in Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League action Sunday, battling back from a 4-0 deficit in the first period to shock the Performance Centre Turbos 6-5.

The AON Flames proved their determination and character in Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League action Sunday, battling back from a 4-0 deficit in the first period to shock the Performance Centre Turbos 6-5.

The Flames tied the game at five with just 47 seconds left and then scored the winner with just 12 seconds remaining in regulation.

Jim Giczi picked up a pair of goals and an assist for AON while Ray Goruick claimed a goal and three assists. Dave Borud added a goal and two helpers while Lorne Burnett grabbed a goal and an assist.

Chuck Austin also found the back of the net.

Bob Candow and Tim Turner-Davis potted two goals apiece for the Turbos while Laurie Malo had a goal and an assist. Alain Pelletier finished with three assists while Darrin Fredrickson was credited with one helper.

In the other oldtimers hockey games Sunday, it was:

Firth Rangers 2

Klondyke Dental Molars 2

Brian Boorse and Ross Phillips provided the offence for the Firth Rangers as they settled for a draw with the Klondyke Dental Molars.

Tim Vincent tacked on an assist for the Rangers.

Ken Vickerman and Mitch Organ replied for the Molars. Vickerman and Bernie Heffner each collected an assist.

Edgewater Windsors 6

Kilrich Industries 4

Mark Pinter led the Edgewater Windsors with a pair of goals as his team overpowered Kilrich Industries.

Steve McGrath, Morley Lessard, Gary Vantell and Rick Blaker also hit the twine for the Windsors.

Peter Grundmanis recorded a hat trick and added an assist for Kilrich. Dan Cornett also scored.

Medicine Chest 4

Yukon Inn 2

Scoring came from all corners for Medicine Chest as they doubled the Yukon Inn.

Mitch Malchow, Doug Tenney, Dave Bakica and Kevin Neufeld hit the scoresheet for the pharmacy.

Bernie Adilman and Greg Bull lit the lamp for the Inn.

Performance Centre Turbos 4

Medicine Chest 1

It was a complete team effort for the Performance Centre Turbos as they dominated Medicine Chest.

Alain Pelletier, Laurie Malo, Jim Stephens and Gary Mailloux contributed goals for the Turbos.

Grant Lyon scored the lone goal for Medicine Chest, assisted by Carl Burgess.

Yukon Inn 4

AON Flames 3

Glen Heinbigner notched a goal and two assists for the Yukon Inn as they snuck past the AON Flames.

Bernie Adilman tacked on a goal and an assist while Mike Blower and Dave Pearson also hit the twine. Greg Bull chipped in with an assist.

Dave Milne netted a pair of goals for Flames while Lorne Burnett picked up the other marker. Bill Bohmer, John Periera, Chuck Austin and Evan Grant each claimed one helper.
