Allan Cup host Flyers open with thrashing of Bentley Generals
Rod Stevens and David Alexander each scored twice as the host Fort St. John Flyers hammered the Bentley Generals 7-1 Monday on the opening day of the Allan Cup senior hockey tournament.
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Rod Stevens and David Alexander each scored twice as the host Fort St. John Flyers hammered the Bentley Generals 7-1 Monday on the opening day of the Allan Cup senior hockey tournament.
Andrew Derton, Ryan Manitowich and Evan Boire also scored for the Flyers (1-0-0).
Darryl Laplante scored the only goal for the Alberta-based Generals (0-1-0).
Clayton Pool made 32 saves for the Flyers while Scott Galenza stopped 33 shots for the Generals.
In Monday's other game, Manitoba's South East Prairie Thunder beat B.C.'s Powell River Regals 4-2.
Cory Baldwin, Dale Butland, Ryan Smith and Kyle Luschinski scored for the Thunder (1-0-0).
Chris Tarr and Brent Shepheard replied for the Regals (0-1-0).
Justin Harris made 25 saves for the Thunder while Chad Vizzutti stopped 40 shots for the Regals.
