2008 Territorial Men's Championships to be held at Whitehorse Curling Club

Curling fans will be treated to four days of great competition, which will begin on Thursday at the Whitehorse Curling Club.

In a press release, the Yukon Curling Association announced that the 2008 Territorial Men's Championships will be held from Feb. 14-17 in Whitehorse.

All of the games will be played at the Whitehorse Curling Club.

The championships will feature two Yukon teams, who will compete against two teams from the Northwest Territories (NWT) in a double round robin format.

The teams are playing for the right to represent the Territories at the Tim Horton's Brier in Winnipeg, MB on March 8-16.

The Yukon will be represented by Team #1, the Jon Solberg rink. The Solberg Rink will feature Jon Solberg as Skip, Clint Abel as Third, Doug Gee as Second and Gordon Puddister as Lead. Solberg's team have members who have represented the Yukon in previous years at the Briar.

The Yukon's Team #2 will consist of Chad Cowan as Skip, Wade Scoffin as Third, James Buyck as Second and Clint Ireland as Lead. The Cowan rink also has Brier experience and will attempt to gain another berth in the March competition.

NWT's Team #1 will be led by Steve Moss, along with teammates Brad Patzer, Brad Chorostkowski and Jim Sosiak

NWT's Team #2 will be skipped by D'arcy Delorey, along with players Norman Bassett, Bruce Powder and Wyatt Scheller.

Draw times will begin on Thursday at 3 p.m., which will be followed by an Opening Ceremonies event at 6 p.m. The event will continue on Friday with a 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. draw times. Saturday's competition times will be at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., while Sunday's lone draw time will be at 10 a.m.
