Alaska Gov. Frank H. Murkowski and Yukon Premier Dennis Fentie took one very significant step forward in their common mission to connect Alaska's railroad with the continental rail system when they signed a joint memorandum of understanding authorizing a feasibility study for the extension (Star, April 26, May 2).
