  • Today's problems may be tomorrow's patrons Years ago, most stores on Main Street were shuttered in the evenings year-round. That would reduce perplexed summer tourists to engaging in superficial window-shopping, frustrating many of them and siphoning valuable revenue from local businesses.

  • Science shouldn't be reliant on big business For some time now, genetic research, gene therapy, genetic modification and similar biotechnological procedures and tests have been the hottest items in medical and biological research.
  • The legacy will be more than medals, memories DAWSON CITY I know it's not politically correct to point this out, but one of the legacies of the Canada Winter Games is going to be an increasingly heavy tax burden on the citizens of Whitehorse in the months and years following the Games' very brief euphoria in February and March.

  • A rational reaction to a distressing incident It's appropriate that the officials involved are in the education field, for they have provided a textbook example of how to tackle an alarming problem with poise, insight and effectiveness.
  • Blindside to the pocket books' is unjustified Ed. note: this is the Utilities Consumers' Group's submission to Whitehorse city council on the 2007 municipal budget. Roger Rondeau, the group's president, addressed council on Monday evening.
