Ricardo Colaci

October 29, 1946 – September 29, 2023

Ricardo Colaci, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away suddenly at Vancouver General Hospital on September 29, 2023 at age 76, with his wife, and son by his side.

Ricardo Colaci was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and emigrated to Canada with his wife and son in 1977. After 10 years living in Winnipeg, the family relocated to Whitehorse in 1987 where he worked as a civil engineer technologist, an independent business owner, and a geo-technical consultant who worked at many mines, airport runways, and bridges in the Yukon and beyond.

He was predeceased by both of his parents, Miguel and Carmela, and his brothers Enrique and Alfredo. He is survived by his wife Catalina Luisa, son Lionel Fabrizio - in Canada - and brother Arturo, sister-in-law Ester, nephews Pablo, Daniel,  and Fernando, niece Romina, as well as grand nieces and nephews and cousins in Argentina.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rockenstein and Dr. Biss as well as all the tireless medical staff at Whitehorse General Hospital and especially at Vancouver General Hospital who helped him and his family through this difficult time. Also, wife and son appreciate the love, constant support and help of Ricardo's dearest friends.

The family will be holding a celebration of life around Spring 2024. Announcements regarding date, time and venue will be made in advance.

Instead of being sad, take the opportunity to invite a friend out and raise a glass of wine, beer or coffee to his memory. If you are not in the mood to do that, please consider a donation to the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, or the BC Cancer Foundation.
