Gloria Gwenn Harris

January 12, 1954 – December 30, 2021

It Is with much sadness that we must announce the passing of Gloria Harris. She passed away suddenly, unexpectedly in her home in Whitehorse due to a cardiac event.

Gloria was a true Yukoner never happier and never more at home than in her beloved Yukon. She and her late husband Richard had a deep love for the north and its people. They shared many adventures, experiences, and close friendships in the Yukon and in Nunavut.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Lauretta (Laurie) Lee; her granddaughter Anika; sister Rena-Mae Neufeld; brother Bernie Neufeld, and nephew Nathan Neufeld. Also sadly missing Gloria is her dear friend of 49 years, Lyndi; Lyndi's daughter Jenn; and first and longest “Whitehorse” friend, Ginny. She will be fondly remembered by her late husband's family; her cousins and other family; and many friends.

Gloria was predeceased by her husband Richard in 2008 and her parents David and Dorothy Neufeld.

After the loss of Richard, the love of her life, Gloria's battle with depression intensified.

However, in spite of some very dark times she kept struggling to overcome this. In the past few years she often spoke of her gratitude for the help and support she received from the Yukon's Mental Health and Social Support networks. Gloria's family designates Canadian Mental HeaIth, Yukon Division as the charity they suggest if people wish to express their condolences.

On July 20, 2022 in Whitehorse Gloria's family and friends will scatter her ashes as she did for Richard and as was her wish. There is no formal ceremony, however, if anyone wishes to contact family or to be present, please email Rena-Mae at rn8685@telus.net or Laurie at lauriemlee@gmail.com.

Fly high, dear one.
We love you; we will miss you.
