Georgina Louise Brown

January 21, 1962 – August 28, 2021

Georgina Louise Brown passed away at home on August 28th, 2021 at the age of 59, surrounded by friends and family. She was predeceased by parents Norman and Gina. Survived by siblings Michael (Michelle), Douglas (Thekkie), Diana, David Moyse and many nieces, nephews and grand-nephews, as well as a vast network of friends.

Georgie was born in Calgary on January 21st, 1962. She graduated from McGill University and had a fulfilling career as an occupational therapist in Whitehorse and Calgary, where she was respected and loved by both clients and colleagues.

Georgina lived her life to the fullest with extensive travels, gourmet cooking and magnificent gardens. She did everything with flair. Passionate about the outdoors, she was always off on grand adventures hiking, skiing, paddling and biking, making friends along the way from every corner of the globe. She enjoyed spending time at her cabin in Kananaskis. An animal lover, she was adored by her dogs Shelagh, Dodi and Elly. The Montgomery dog walking community will miss her.

She was always very involved in her communities from art festivals in Whitehorse to the Sistership Dragon Boat Racers and the new Montgomery Bike Park. Georgie was the life of the party. Everyone who knew her delighted in her sense of humour— when she showed up, the fun began.

Georgina was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, and in the following years not only survived, but thrived. “My blood type is B-positive, as am I”. Her family thanks Dr Marc Webster, Dr Carla Montgomery and the Pain Management team at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. We especially thank her friends Sue Nielsen, Christina Masse and Shauna Kingswell, who went above and beyond, as well as her very caring neighbours and friends.

Due to the realities of Covid-19, a celebration of her life will be postponed to a later date. Friends are encouraged to share their stories and photos of her online, through both the Lyle Reeves Funerals webpage and her tribute page on Facebook. Please plant a tree in memory or make a donation to the charity of your choice.
