Edward Kinney

1934 - 2021

Edward “Bud” James Kinney passed away on July 30, 2021 at the age of 86.

Bud was Born in Seattle, Washington to Nora Elizabeth O’Reilly and Edward Stephen Kinney in 1934 and moved to Biggar, Saskatchewan at the young age of four where he eventually worked with his father at CN Rail. Bud met his future wife, Dolores, and married on July 31, 1956 in Saskatoon. The happy couple raised five children. Sadly, Dolores passed away in 1996. Bud was also the grandfather of eight, and great-grandfather of three.

Bud, Dolores, and kids uprooted to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory in his search for new work. Even though the family relocated to Lethbridge, Alberta, in 1989, his love for the Great White North and all its outdoor activities did not fade. Bud often went fishing with his brothers, enjoyed camping with his family, and loved watching the trains roll by while he counted the cars with his binoculars. He also had a long-standing passion for the horse races, where he would frequent with his twin granddaughters, Kristen and Erin.

Bud re-married on September 12, 2015 to Felicitacion “Cita” Penaflor who remained his companion until his passing. Cita was a loving wife who doted on Bud with her home-cooking and continued care throughout their time together.

At the wishes of Bud, a service will not be held, and he will be returned home to the Yukon.
