Dennis Alfred SABOE

1950 – 2022

With great sadness, the family of Dennis announces his passing on Thursday, June 16 in Whitehorse, Yukon after a battle with cancer.

Dennis was born in Edmonton, Alberta, March 22, 1950. He travelled to Whitehorse in 1974 to assist his sister Janice with opening a pizza parlour.

Dennis fell in love with the Yukon and called Whitehorse his home ever since. An artist at heart, Dennis acquired much inspiration for his art from around the territory. He completed many projects during his life in Yukon.

Dennis is survived by his son, Noah; sisters: Wendy (Rick), Janice, Brenda, Diana (Ramon), Donna; nieces and nephews: Mark, Kim, Julie, Rob, Kirsten, Madison, Raquel, Nicole and their families; extra special friends in the Yukon, Marie-Louise and Manfred, who were instrumental in caring for Dennis during his illness.

Dennis will be remembered as a “YUKON CHARACTER” with numerous friends who will mourn his passing.

A heartfelt thank-you to Dr Sally Macdonald of Whitehorse for her care, kindness and friendship; the caring and gentle staff at Wind River Hospice in Whitehorse; and the staff at the Cancer Centre of Vancouver BC for their care of Dennis during his illness.

“DEATH (IF I SHOULD GO)” BY JOYCE GRENFELL

If I should go before the rest of you
Break not a flower nor inscribe a stone
Nor when I'm gone speak in a Sunday voice
But be the usual selves that I have known
Weep if you must
Parting is Hell
But life goes on

So sing as well.
