Two women and a man are facing drug charges after the RCMP seized suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia and cash on the evening of March 4.

Officers in the Yukon RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit arrested the trio, police said Thursday afternoon.

Michael Bland, 39, Lacey Bailey, 28, and Erin Borgford, 27, are charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Bland is also charged with failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance.

Bailey and Ms. Borgford appeared in court and were released on conditions. They will next appear in court on March 25.

Bland was held in custody, and was slated to appear in court Thursday afternoon.

I am quite shocked by the disgusting posts regarding a dear friend that was lost to many from the deadly disease of addiction. If she were to pass from cancer…it would be different. I knew this lady from when she was a young kid and she was nothing but friendly and kind to anybody who needed a shoulder to cry on. I hope you all take a look in the mirror and understand that judging others is not the way to go. I remember her for the loving woman she was. Give your head a shake and realize parents lost their daughter. Humility is a word you should all look up for goodness sake. Put yourselves in their shoes..addiction is a disease and not a choice.

Well not at all surprising to hear Erin Borgford was just recently found dead in her burnt out 2014 Nissan Rogue in Vernon in the early wee hours of the morning, SMH! What else could have led to it other than 'drugs and money" and getting involved in the wrong crowd? Birds of a feather flock together. Hopefully this sends a very clear message that if one wants to get involved in the drug trade there are certain inherent risks associated with it! Remember that to all those seeking easy $.

They should consider themselves lucky to be Canadians “ screwing up “ here in Canada! If they get a long enough sentence to learn a lesson maybe they can come out a be productive citizens. But neither myself or anyone else should count on it because it’s almost guaranteed that they’ll all get a slap on the wrist and a boot in the ass. Our Canadian courts should get a little tougher on sentencing day for people messing with hard drugs. In the USA they’d be sentenced to 10 years for dealing heroin. To the writer who thinks they should go easy on them, if it was my kid I’d want him or her to do enough time that they’d think long and hard before going back at it like most of them do. Canada’s soft hand of the law is a bunch of crap!

@ Reality I was not trying to suggest a lighter sentence for the (grown) child or anything like that. I was not trying to suggest preferential (racist, imo) treatment like the Gladue principle provides or anything like that. I was not trying to suggest the (grown) child is anything but a drug dealer who doesn't deserve to have the book thrown at her.

I was merely relating to the parents of said child as I have (grown) children of my own. I was merely trying to say that I understood how it would feel as a parent to suddenly be smacked across the head with news that the child you love, the child you worked so hard to raised properly has chosen to take the wrong path, and whose actions will now undoubtedly affect that whole family for the rest of their lives.

When the courts mention things like what a great ballplayer he was, I believe it is a statement reflecting society's disappointment in the person that once had life on a silver platter and chose to throw that away themselves in favour of crime. I never take those statements as meaning a sentence should be lighter because of whatever special thing they had going on before getting caught for breaking the law.

Just imagine if it was YOUR kid that sullied your family name in a small jurisdiction like the Yukon. I don't have much sympathy for the (grown) child, but I do have empathy for the parents as I know they did their best. I'm pretty sure no parent plans to raise a drug dealer.

All drug dealers have parents. Amazing how teary eyed people get when the suspect/charged person is 'known', i.e. raised locally.
Even judges have waxed lyrically in the court about how this or that offender 'used to play great baseball'. The guy was being charged for selling bricks of cocaine.
Any one of the people above could or may have already killed someone by overdose, it doesn't matter how they're raised or if their parents are known.

They are scum. Nothing more.

I know the parents of one of the young ladies. So sorry for you both. It must be so difficult seeing your (grown) child fall on the wrong side of the fence and now you have to worry about criminal charges on her behalf. I know you raised her right. It's unfortunate the choices she has made for herself. My heart goes out to you both as this story will undoubtedly live on forever in your lives.

Maybe it would be safer for the police and drug buyers to let elderly people traffic drugs in Whitehorse.

No guns or bad drugs just people wanting supplement their income.

Absolutely JC - It’s amazing to me that we have not heard the “revolving door hit me on the backside” abuse defence yet... Oh, wait? Sorry, I forgot about Gladue and the politics of identity... Oh yes, the millennial whine... It’s unfair I should have to work for stuff and things... We should all be equal... I hate you... How dare you... Peace, love and happiness...

Welcome to the world of normalized Borderline Personality Disorder as the course du jour!

To the junkies.. your favorite dealers are back on the street.. one held..but the other two can carry on...
Dealers.. want that easy money.. users are just too happy to hand over their hard earned cash.. or I guess..maybe not so hard earned now that government deposits directly to your account..

While I am pretty jaded about this.. I am still glad the cops are making the arrests. If just one of these 3 get off this roller coaster, I would consider it a really good bust.

Don't let the revolving door hit you in the backside.
