Yukon’s COVID-19 cases now number 42 with 12 still active

The Yukon confirmed three new cases of COVID-19 Thursday evening.

By Whitehorse Star on November 26, 2020

Revised - The Yukon confirmed three new cases of COVID-19 Thursday evening.

The territory now has 12 active cases, and 42 total cases.

Six people have recently recovered, according to a Yukon government press release.

Two of the new cases are in Whitehorse, and the third is in a community.

Case 40 is linked to a known case in Whitehorse and case 42, the rural case, is likely connected to one of the two active outbreaks.

Case 41 is linked to Diwali festival in Whitehorse on Nov. 14.

Attendees of that festival who are experiencing symptoms should get tested immediately, health officials say.

An additional public exposure date was added for Save-On-Foods on Nov. 18 between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Case 39 was confirmed earlier this week, but no details have been released about that case.

Dr. Brendan Hanley, the territory’s chief medical officer, said Tuesday morning a probable case was likely to see confirmation that day.

That probable case was a household contact associated with one of two outbreaks currently active in the territory.

Premier Sandy Silver said Tuesday the territory is now experiencing a second wave of the virus, and announced that masks will be mandatory in all public places as of Dec. 1.

Several possible public exposure advisories were issued this week. Yukoners who were in these locations are advised to monitor for symptoms:

Save-On-Foods on Nov. 6 before 1 p.m. and on Nov. 18 between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.;

A&W on Nov. 8 between 3 and 6:30 p.m.;

Listers Motor Sports on Nov. 10 between 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.;

Starbucks on Main Street on Nov. 12 and 13 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.;

Starbucks on Chilkoot Way from Nov. 12 through Nov. 18;

Better Bodies on Nov. 12 between 6:30 a.m. and closing time, Nov. 13 between 6:30 and closing, Nov. 14 between 12 and 2:30 p.m.; and Nov. 16 between 5 and 7 a.m.;

Tony’s Pasta and Seafood House on Nov. 14 from 5 p.m. to closing time;

Diwali Festival at 120 Copper Rd. on Nov. 14 between 3 and 6 p.m.;

Giorgio’s Cuccina on Nov. 14 between 7 and 9:30 p.m.;

Canadian Tire on Nov. 17 between 8:30 a.m. and 9 p.m.; and

Wykes’ Your Independent Grocer on Nov. 17 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

@ Thomas Brewer
I hear you chirping the same thing over and over. On here and FB. "ToTaL cAsEs ArE a FrAuD!"
Total confirmed infections is a valid metric used by scientists so we know how many have been infected and may carry antibodies but I guess that number scares you eh? My suggestion, don't look at it if it causes you so much anxiety. Bury your head in the sand and makes sure to opt out of the vaccine.
Total confirmed infections is a smaller number than actual infections as some hosts are asymptomatic. Mind blown? Find your safe space snowflake.

Had enough of this scamdemic on Nov 30, 2020 at 1:01 pm

If you are not sick do not get tested.
The PCR test only test for DNA fragments. It does not test for a covid-19 virus. If you are not sick and you test positive it just means you have fragment of DNA of any covid virus. The flu vaccine contains fragments of a covid virus’s so if you had a flu vaccine you will test positive. The only time you should be tested is during the first few days of being sick. The PCR test should only be cycled up to 15 cycles for accuracy. Anything after 30 cycles produce false positives. After that the higher the cycle, the falser the positives are created. You need to ask what the cycles were on your test.
There is no asymptomatic spread of the virus. It is not a pandemic if people are not having any symptoms of illness. I know of three people that work in medical labs that know this testing is a fraud. The creator of the test, Dr Karry Mullis PhD, stated “The PCR test doesn’t tell you that you are sick, and it doesn’t tell you that what you ended up with, really was going to hurt you. Anyone can test positive for anything as long as you run it (PCR), long enough”.
The only spike in virus cases is a spike of testing. All you are doing is creating a situation for the medical mafia and government to justify shutting everything down to further destroy the economy and peoples lives. The real virus is the out of control justification of Yukon Chief Medical Officer and corrupt company so the ones invested can make a 20 to 1 profit off of vaccines. Why do you want to support an unethical system like that? The greatest scam ever created was convincing the world that they are sick and contagious without any symptoms.
When you allow a belief that healthy people are a sick and infectious threat you have not created a new normal. You have just participated in “collective paranoid psychosis”. Congratulations.

Pandemic Duo on Nov 27, 2020 at 10:03 pm

Wow! A population of 42,052 people in the Yukon with a case count of 42... That translates to a .0001% infection rate - Rounding up even! Everyone quick to the Superstore and Walmart to get your toilet paper and non-perishable goods before you go home to shelter in place.

The mortality rate so far is .00002%. And this rate is likely inflated because there were other factors involved. So keep these figures in mind for the next Chicken Little report by the Pandemic Duo.

Cue the air raid sirens!

How about we all do our part for Covid Relief by volunteering ourselves to quarantine for 14 days so we can stop listening to the Pandemic Duo drone on and on about the attention seeking meanderings of their nonsensical delusions... They make it up as you go Pandemic Mis-Management plan is so obviously flawed that we would have been better off employing some form of reverse psychology by way of sarcasm - Sure, ya, having a kegger at the Shipyards Park to celebrate your... is a good idea. Make sure you advertise well and have free giveaways to attract bigger crowds... However, all non essential services should close down...

By the way, wear a mask, but don’t wear one if you don’t want to even though they may or may not be effective... And by all means, keep taking everyone’s temperatures as soon as they come in from outside at -20 or so... FFS! A lot of Yukoners must think they are pretty cool with scan-temps of 34 degrees Celsius.

LMAO!

Watch an interview with Domo Leblanc federal cabinet minister for liberals, he says Canada will have the vaccine by January 2021.
If that the case, who gets the first shipment?
One province has said it wants it first because of their situation.
Other sources say that Canada was way to late putting out the orders for the vaccine.
Our cost for the vaccine was not done until September when everyone else out there was in March 2020.
Also we are going to pay 4 times as much than other countries because of liberal failure to get in the order for the vaccine Early!
So who certifies the vaccine will work in Canada?
How much time does our government need to confirm it?

Danger Will Robinson: That is a very clever post.

Odette: No one is afraid of anything..except..probably you. The advance notice was given to give stores time to lay in extra stocks, and unfortunately some people might not have the money to buy masks, the ability to make their own. As for not making them mandatory a week ago, I guess they weren't listening to you. I did NOT want masks mandatory, but, here we are..they weren't listening to me either.

What happens to the people who have no short term memory? How will they know if they have been to any of the listed locations?
This is a blatant violation of the rights of the memory impaired on the grounds of disability. We need to start tagging and tracking everyone so that equality can truly be equal!

I really wish the government and the media would cease quoting the 'number of cases' versus 'active cases' and 'recovered'. It's a much more accurate depiction of the current situation (although it's less scary, which is why they keep blathering on with the higher number). Report relevant numbers please!

Why waiting until Dec. 1st for the mandatory masks? Just keeping the door wide open for more spreading of the Virus. Why not make it mandatory a week ago? Afraid to offend some non-believers?
