The official Opposition Yukon Party has taken another step toward naming a leader.
The official Opposition Yukon Party has taken another step toward naming a leader.
At its annual general meeting (AGM) held last Saturday in Whitehorse, the membership voted to create and appoint a leadership advisory committee to investigate options and report back with a recommended date for a leadership race.
The committee will report back to the executive council by Aug. 31. MLA Stacey Hassard has been the interim leader since former premier Darrell Pasloski was defeated in his Mountainview riding in the November 2016 election, which saw the Liberals take office the following month.
The AGM, held at the Coast High Country Inn, was attended by more than 60 people, the party said in a short statement. Hassard spoke about the party’s efforts in the legislature to support the private sector and hold the government to account.
Members voted to re-elect Mark Beese to a third term as party president.

Seriously? Come on YP, the NDP picked a leader, all said and done within one month. Are you really that inefficient that you can't find a leader? We need a serious alternative to the current government, and waiting till the last minute does not give me confidence. In my humble opinion you have 2 MLAs who would make great leaders. Kent or Cathers. Make it happen!

One thing is clear, the party obviously doesn't want any of the sitting MLAs to be leader. Otherwise they would not have dragged this out for 3 years and then "appointed a committee to study possible dates for a leadership race". LOL. Anyways its too bad, I was hoping Cathers would throw his hat in the ring.

There's no sense in being in a rush Yukon Party but, what your getting tired of Quasi-moto's misinterpretations?
