Somewhere in Whitehorse, someone may be $100,000 richer.

The Millionaire Life winning lottery numbers were drawn this morning.

Though a Winnipeg ticket took the grand price of $1 million per year for 25 years (or a one-time $17-million payout), a ticket sold in Whitehorse is among the four tickets sold through the Western Canada Lottery Corp. that took a $100,000 prize.

'Hopefully, everyone will check their ticket,' Carole Arntzen, Lotteries Yukon's general manager, told the Star this morning.

The winning number for the Whitehorse ticket is 233465-25.

The local prize has yet to be claimed. It's also unknown where in Whitehorse the ticket was sold, she said.

'It was our turn,' Arntzen added.

The lottery was held as a one-time event across the country, with tickets only available in February.

Over the course of the month, Arntzen said, a total of $114,000 in tickets for the lottery were sold at retail locations throughout the territory.

Some may have bought the $5 ticket with one number selection. Others may have opted for the $10 purchase providing three number selections or the $20 purchase that had seven number selections. Still others may have made multiple purchases of the tickets.

As an example, Arntzen said, she bought two of the $10 tickets for herself.

While a $100,000 ticket was sold in Whitehorse, it may not have been a local who wins the cash.

'We've had a lot of visitors in the territory this month,' Arntzen pointed out. 'We're just hoping it's a Yukoner who's won.'

She added it would also be nice to see someone from the other two territories take a big prize.

Of the other $100,000 cash prizes sold through the Western Canada Lottery Corp., tickets were sold in Edmonton and two in rural Alberta.

'We're really excited the Yukon is represented,' Arntzen said in thanking retailers who also promoted the lottery and supported the Canada Winter Games through sales.

'They played a huge role.'

In addition to the winning $100,000 ticket sold in Whitehorse, Lotteries Yukon is reminding all Millionaire Life ticket holders to check their numbers at local lottery retailers because there are dozens of $1,000 and $20 prizes in the draw.

The $1,000 prize will be awarded for matching the first six digits in the top prize, while $20 winnings will go to those who have matched the last two digits of the top prize numbers drawn.

The number for the $1 million per year for 25 years, sold in Winnipeg, is 103546-77.
