As the COVID-19 numbers in the Yukon slowly creep up, Dr. Catherine Elliott, the acting chief medical officer of health, has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at Whitehorse General Hospital.
As the COVID-19 numbers in the Yukon slowly creep up, Dr. Catherine Elliott, the acting chief medical officer of health, has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at Whitehorse General Hospital.
“We are working closely with the staff and leadership at Yukon Hospitals to manage the outbreak,” Elliott stated in a news release issued Friday afternoon.
“Thank you to everyone who has shown diligence to contain the spread.
“I’d like to remind Yukoners that masks are required for staff and patients in hospitals. Hospitals remain a safe place to seek medical care.”
According to the release, the outbreak was determined following the identification of several linked COVID-19 cases among staff.
“No transmission from staff to patients has been identified at this time. COVID-19 is widespread in the Yukon, so having cases in a public place such as a hospital can be expected,” Elliott said.
Routine outbreak management procedures are in place to keep staff, physicians, patients and the community safe, she said.
Yukon Communicable Disease Control (YCDC) is working closely with Yukon Hospitals to contain the outbreak and ensure infection prevention and control practices are followed.
The release added, “Hospitals remain safe places to seek care, and Yukoners are encouraged to visit the hospital if they need emergency care or call 911.”
Friday afternoon’s latest numbers available on the government’s COVID-19 dashboard showed 85 active cases and 16 new cases. Data from the weekend were unavailable by press tme this afternoon.
The testing positivity rate is 41.9 per cent, which remains much higher than is desirable.
The number gives an indication of how widespread the virus is in the territory.
It was announced last week that a 24th Yukoner has died from the virus.
Most public restrictions, including the mandatory wearing of masks in indoor public places and vaccination verification, were lifted earlier this month.
The vaccine mandate for Yukon government employees will expire next Monday.

@ Liberalism Kills
please let me know when you've come up with a reasonable answer as to why the 6 Conservative premiers in Canada and the Federal Conservatives are all on board with covid vaccine mandates, lockdowns, masking, restrictions. The idea that they were bullied into it is laughable - provinces get their health care funds and choose how to spend it themselves - are they such pushovers that they got bullied? Perhaps I should change my sign in name to "Conservatives are spineless wimps at the beck and call of Liberals who dominate them"
Your obsessive desire to make Liberalism your boogeyman is going to give you a stroke.
Your inability or your blindness to how all political parties except the furthest fringe right wing supported covid measures including lockdowns, mandatory vaccines, and emergency measures is telling.
Someday JT will not be in power anymore. You'll need a new boogeyman then. Or at least a new hobby.
And no...I am not a paid liberal shill. I think the Liberal party sucks. It's just amusing that people think the alternatives would be better - they are even worse.

Thanks - but I've had three vaccine doses (just like I had multiple doses of the same vaccines when I was a child - multiple doses for mumps, multiple doses for Hep B, multiple doses for tetanus, multiple doses for measles etc etc etc - maybe you had multiple doses of the same vaccine as well when you were a child)
I've never been healthier than I am right now. Zero side effects from the covid vaccines for me. No need for any blood tests. No need to look up the "side effects" - guess what? Every side effect that gets reported does not mean every side effect reported is from the vaccine. That fact is either lost or ignored by the anti-covid-vaxxers.
Every day people have strokes and heart attacks and migraines and sore throats. Every day. So it only stands to reason that the hour or day or week after some people get a covid vaccine these things will happen. And they will rightfully get reported. You can easily find someone who had a broken hip the day after the covid vaccine - that will be reported. Does that mean the vaccine caused the broken hip? Unlikely. Only by reporting and monitoring by scientists and statisticians would that conclusion come out.

At Roy - Stop calling them vaccines. They are not vaccines they mRNA based gene therapies. The solution being proffered alters your genetic expression in a certain in response to the virus.
Maybe not quite as drastically as the portrayal in Resident Evil but I would not put my faith in hopes of a governmental benevolence. We have seen time and again how our so-called leaders have put us in harms way for their ulterior machinations:
Residential Schools
Sterilizations
Experimentation without consent - McGill University mind erasure / control
No infrastructure for clean water
Identitarian hierarchies
Repeated lockdowns and states of emergency
Blaming the “will of the people” for their abuses
This political delusion absolutely requires the manufacture of consent and the loyalties of useful idiots.

You may want to ask your doctor about getting a D-dimer test before making those kinds of predictions. I also recommend checking your vaccine batch # since certain batches are being reported to cause more adverse reactions compared to others. You can look those up here by typing your batch # into the search window:

A recent scientific study in UK has shown that the booster shot still gives some immunity against severe effects of Delta contagion but the immunity for Omicron fades and is only 20-40% effective after 3 months. UK is now considering the possibility of boosters needed every 6 months. So yes, staff have been vaccinated but they go home, shopping and other places when off shift so could potentially contract Omicron but although it means they are infected it would be mild.

But now I once again need u to roysplain to me how u can prove that taking the vaccine prevented anything?

@Adam
Every time I prove that covid vaccine mandates and lockdowns and restrictions are embraced by the Conservative party (6 provincial premiers and the federal Conservatives all put in place the same lockdowns and vaccine mandates including Alberta) well then the fringe shouts at me saying "yeah? well vaccine mandates / lockdowns etc don't work! Vaccinated people can get and spread covid too!" - no one shouting on here that this is all a Liberal agenda can ever explain why so many Conservative leaders did the same measures (the best they can come up with is "these 6 premiers and the whole federal Conservative party were bullied into it" -
Wow - they must be weak spineless pushovers! Some party you are supporting. Yeah we should really give these spineless pushovers more power!
But - and pay close attention here Adam - every time I patiently explain that, although vaccinated people can catch Covid and can spread it, the vaccines still prevented hospitalizations and severe disease and without vaccine mandates and restrictions there would be more hospitalizations, more outbreaks, more deaths, and more long covid - every time I calmly explain this do you know what happens?
Someone on here starts shouting "Yeah? Well this is all a Liberal power grab agenda!"
Which takes us back up to the top and the circle resets and I'm back to explaining (AGAIN) that the Conservative party also was heavily involved.... and then some internet MD pipes up with "yeah well the vaccines don't work! etc etc"
It's a vicious circle. It's like playing whack-a-mole in here except it's whack-a-troll.

Cognitive dissonance happens when one holds contradictory information in the mind. One of the tactics used by those who desire control is to flood someone with dissonant information so as to compel them to draw some meaning out of it. For example, there is a tactic called the Alice in the Wonderland Tactic that consists of interrogators speaking nonsense to someone being interrogated. In a situation like that, the interrogated is basically left with the option of having a mental breakdown or making his mind to act as if the information being presented to her/him makes sense by attaching meaning to it, which could make the interrogated to suffer a breakdown in the face of the contradictions, or figure out that the only source of reality that he/she should rely on are the interrogators.
Such tactics have been routinely used throughout the entire pandemic. The government has constantly exposed people to dissonant information, such as "you are allowed to not wear a mask", "you are obligated to wear a mask", "you are free to chose whether to take or not a vaccine", "you are obliged to take a vaccine", "stay home", "don't stay home", "you can stay outside", "you are obliged to stay inside", "go to the parks", "do not go to the parks", "go to the beach", "do not go to the beach", "'vaccines' work", "'vaccines' do not work", "two vaccine doses are enough", "two vaccine doses aren't enough", "the curve will flatten in 2 weeks", "the curve will not flatten in two weeks", "the curve will flatten in one month", "the curve will not flatten in one month", "the pandemic is over", "the pandemic is not over", "vaccines do not change your DNA", "vaccines change your DNA", "wear a mask", "do not wear a mask", etc,
...so that people's minds may attempt to trace a rationality between this dissonant information by assuming that the government is trustworthy and therefore what it says is true and rational, because it is basically one of the last resorts the mind of an ordinary person has in order to pursue a rationality within all the range of these dissonant information presented to them.

Wow Whitehorse Star, looks like you need to follow up with that hospital and it's administration as well as our local chumps at YTG because the evidence suggests we were lied to, badly, for the sake of our amateur cross country skiers and fat bike riders. This past two years hurt us real bad, twisted our guts. We want justice! And that is simply more than this government can afford to give. Question their failures - we rely on you.

Does this mean we're getting more vaccine mandates? I certainly hope so. If it weren't for the unvaccinated we'd be out of this pandemic already. I really don't want them near me at all, especially without a mask. If you knew anything about science, surely you must know that the vaccines are the most effective tool at stopping the spread of Covid19. It's time to step up and do the right thing, in order to protect the most vulnerable members of our community. Please go and get vaccinated. Book your appointment today.

I’m triple vaxxed with compromised immune system. I won’t get anymore. I have relatives working in the healthcare system triple vaxxed, masked and extremely careful. They both got COVID and very ill. At least one of them is known to have caught the virus from a coworker who had to be triple vaxxed and wore a mask. These shots don’t minimize the severity from what I’ve seen. The shots are a joke.

It is funny how many different messages we all have on what the vaccine will do and won't do for a person. I took the vaccine and understood I can still catch it and spread it, but I should not need hospitalization, or get serious illness if and when I get COVID. Seems pretty simple.

A COVID-19 outbreak at Whitehorse Hospital isn't surprising and was likely inevitable given the medical bureaucracy's dogged insistence in following ineffective protocols. C0vid is now an epidemic among the vaxzed.
Anyone who has been paying attention during the plandemic should know how thoroughly masked and C0vax-mandated WGH is. Therefore this 'outbreak' is absolutely irrefutable proof that hospital masks and the C0vax are completely ineffective in stopping the spread of C0vid in any venue. As well, this proves that the LIBgov vax-mandates are totally about some other agenda, not C0vid.

A 'pandemic' of the vaccinated. This fact cannot even be hidden any longer. I highly recommend the CMO continue recommending discrimination among the unvaccinated, many of whom still cannot return to their jobs. You're all heart Miss Elliott. Keep up the great job of segregation and pharmaceutical prejudice. It's really "working!"

In retrospect, in looking back in hindsight in light of new information, I REGRET TAKING TWO MODERNA VACCINES. Washing my hands, avoiding crowded public settings and wearing a mask mitigated everything required to date. I can now see, the vaccinated are ruining the nation at every level because they are not concerned with health, they are caught up in Trudeau's obsession with governmental agency over our agency, which is fundamentally unacceptable. I can see why they are hesitant to publish numbers now, how about you?

So, "no transmission from staff to patients" means that this 'outbreak' is entirely among the vaccinated, since the covax is mandated for hospital staff.
In other words, the vaccinated are the ones catching & spreading the virus. Why then the discrimination against the unvaxed who still are not allowed to board a plane or train within Canada, even when free of symptoms. These absurd vax mandates aren't about health. They're about control.

Before this is over, everyone is going to 'catch' this flu we call covid. I'd sure like to go after the 'root' cause of this virus being loosened on the world. Wuhan? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-57268111 seems pretty plausible.
Canada also played a part in the release of the Sars virus strains as they gave China the original virus to work with. Virologists and other medical persons, trade information and send samples all over the world to other scientists and other labs. It's understood that we would only be sharing with our allies. So, its uncommon that Canada would have a virology trade agreement with China. But, on the other hand, Trudeau does consider China to be his ally.
I want to know what happened here. IF the virus escaped from the Wuhan Lab, I want, whatever control powers that are monitoring and overlooking these exchanges to make recommendations and demand the labs be closed until their safety and security protocols are brought up to standard. I think each country has to demand an accounting from their government for the way in which this 'pandemic' was managed. The country wide scare tactics are and were appalling. And finally, I think CEMA needs to put a better plan in place that leaves politics at the door, and ONLY services the problem. Maybe we can have a separete disaster plan for Trudeaus ego.

Meanwhile, YHC refuses to proactively cut down services to manageable levels for the staff that are working skeleton crews. Completely mismanaged and reactive management. The issues were foreseeable and not planned. YHC leadership is failing the people of the Yukon, and driving its workers away. Would Love for an MLA to ask YHC to quantify wait times for services and account for staffing numbers publicly.

And yet the discrimination against unvaccinated visitors and family supports continue. (Even though unvaccinated patients can still come in the doors.)
Such discrimination is simply not justified and demonstrates the contempt that medical authorities have for dissenters.
It is well known that the vaxxed can pass on the virus. Such glaring policy discrepancies, not to mention the cruelty of preventing seriously ill individuals from seeing their loved ones.
Why does this medical apartheid continue?

Good to see that the Government staff vaccine mandate is proving to be so successful at stopping the spread of COVID in the workplace and keeping staff and clients safe. Imagine the outcry if it proved to be a massive shower of pointlessness with no benefits in curbing the spread of the virus and people had been sent on home from their jobs for no reason.
