Kate White

White’s support as leader near-unanimous

Apparently they like her. They really like her.

By Whitehorse Star on February 22, 2022

Apparently they like her. They really like her.

According to a news release from the Yukon NDP, Kate White was re-endorsed as the leader with a stunning 98 per cent support during the party’s annual general meeting last Saturday.

“The 2021 election was hard-fought,” White said.

“We welcomed two new members to our caucus. The CASA agreement we negotiated has forced the government to enact some real change for Yukoners.

“This all happened thanks to the hard work and support from our members, and I’d like to thank each and every one of them for their ongoing support.”

White took over the leadership from Liz Hanson, who did not seek re-election in 2021.

Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh addressed party members virtually last weekend.

The NDP is dead. Folks will never forget how they pushed ill-advised lockdowns and vax mandates on people, mostly to maintain an appearance of political clout as they hitch a ride on the Libs coattails. The NDP turned their backs on the peaceful truckers convoy request to end all covid mandates, and NPD MPs voted in favor of Trudeau's call for emergency measures, only because a 'no' vote would have triggered a federal election they knew only too well they would lose.

The NDP used to be standing for the working class. But all they've achieved lately is slandering and hurting workers. I'll never again vote for any of them.

Too bad she said that the horrific attack of Russia on Ukraine was disappointing to her. Birds of a feather.......

I'd like to see all of the parties stick to their ideology principles and not shift their views anyway the wind blows just to be popular with the electorate on any given issue that pops up.

Now it's completely understandable why she lied about the protesters in the Yukon. Jumping on vehicles, spitting at her, attacking her, etc....even when there's video proving her wrong. To play the victim card to the masses, and to get some social credit score points from the libs.

I do not agree with many of her initiatives. And I think she doesn't do her homework before making her grand pronouncements. But she's a decent human being.

@Matthew Why don't you ask the NDP what the difference is between them? In their opinion there is little difference between the Liberals and Yukon Party. So like most things in life, the truth is probably somewhere in between the two opposing opinions.

One major difference I know of is on the rent cap. The Liberals keep speaking out against it while the NDP keep saying how great it is.

Wow, that headline sure don’t match the picture.

Lost In the Yukon on Feb 23, 2022 at 7:50 pm

Two things …

1. The NDP under her leadership has moved way too far left to ever be seriously considered as a ruling party. They just don’t understand Yukon demographics. Their lack of experienced candidates results in policy decisions that are ill thought out … like the rent cap.

2. They did have a window to be considered when the No Confidence vote was brought forward and they blew it.

Until the NDP attracts leadership material like a Rod Snow they will soon become irrelevant

@bonanzajoe I enjoy and appreciate your comments but Trudeau invoked the War Measures Act for more than a “trifling” incident. Quebec cabinet minister Paul Laporte was murdered, British diplomat James Cross was kidnapped and the stock exchange was bombed killing people (I don’t recall how many) among other incidents. Montreal mayor Drapeau and Quebec premier Bourassa begged Trudeau to institute the war measures. Those extraordinary powers were abused, to be sure, but it wasn’t “trifling.” My impression of you is that you’re confident enough to accept a correction.

Chuck Farley. Gave an answer to your question, but guess WS didn't consider appropriate. It had to do with the history of JT and his father and their ideology. Freedom of speech is not going well these days.

@Matthew: it’s not just the colours, it’s also the cut and quality of the fabric that separates Libs from NDP.

Chuck Farley. Marxist Communism. I don't know if WS will allow this, but I will chance it anyway. THE DEVIL AND KARL MARX. by Paul Kengor. And I have done many years of research on Communism when researching was hard. Today the internet is full of material.

Matthew. The old traditional Liberal party was good. I was a member many years ago. However, JT's father Pierre - He was the first to declare the War Measure's act for a trifling incident in Quebec - putting all of Canada under Martial law. Now his son, wanting to best him, declared the Emergency Act for a peaceful demonstration in Ottawa, while, by the way, went into hiding, and continues to be. Even his father had the guts to face the public. So, I hope this answers your question.

ProScience Greenie. Hoping, hoping. But of course we won't count on Justy to help. He gave up Canada's six guns when he was elected. I think NATO gave up on him.

Kates political career is done. When she supported the McPhee vote she endorsed the liberal pension plan and lost everyone’s support. Bye bye Kate. Just because 20 hard core NDP members 98% vote for your leadership certainly doesn’t mean the Yukon population feels the same. You did have a chance and you blew it

@Mitch Holder. You are right on the money. She supported the Liberals throughout the Golden Horn scandal in order to maintain the agreement that forced the Liberals to open the “safe use site,” the only purpose of which was to brag to the out-of-Yukon contributors for more contributions and an image of power. Locally and nationally, the NDP have become the Liberals’ lap dogs who perform for the smallest of treats. Where are Penikett, Hanson, McLaughlin and Broadbent when we need them? Oh, that’s right, they actually had a vision. That was so un-woke of them.

Kate white has tattoos all up n down her arms. I remember she was proud of and wanted to bring change like how Starbucks now accepts people with piercings and tattoos. Now all she does is cater to her crowd and plays at politician while Sandy makes the mistakes and takes the risks. Sad to see how she has changed to suit the safe space office environment that is out of touch with reality.

Yep, Kate as a person is a very nice person. With horrible beliefs that she like the squad in the US believe. Hug a junkie is the NDP motto and make the taxpayers pay for safe injection sites and free rent for free loaders. Zero accountability for the criminals - it's the working man's fault.

Well when there's really no other option, it's not surprising the sitting leader gets hardcore Orange's votes.

Now, were Whitehorse renters organised enough to join the Party and vote, Kate's future as leader would have been seriously in jeopardy... maybe something for the renting public to think about before the next AGM.

Congratulations Kate, you are reconfirmed as the leader of the territorial party that just supported putting all of us into martial law to fight racism with racism. The first nations were met with police force for blocking rail Lines? Hmmm, guess NDP better make sure the white people catch beatings too, because THAT IS PROGRESS, AM I RIGHT? You lost my respect, I gave you that, I WILL NEVER GIVE YOU MY VOTE.

I am not a fan of her political stances or moves. But having met her in person she is a lovely human and I can see why a party like the NDP wants to keep her around. No fan of the NDP but Kate as a person is fine with me.
