The Whitehorse bar circuit will offer quite a variety of options this Dec. 31.
The Casa Loma in Porter Creek is featuring its stronghold house band Yukon Jack, although there may not be any tickets remaining by this afternoon, according to bar staff.
A $20-ticket goes toward entertainment, snacks and midnight champagne.
Yukon Jack drummer Vince Fedoroff said the band is 'very established, and we play country, old-time and country-rock music.'
The Royal Canadian Legion has a double-bill slotted for Saturday night. Hank Karr & Company and The Canucks will be playing country, rock and pop from the '50s right up to the '80s.
'Doors open at 8 p.m. and the event is $25,' according to Hank Karr.
'There will be a cold smorgasbord at midnight, and champagne,' he added.
'There will be two volunteer chauffeurs on hand to make sure people get home safely this New Year's,' according to Legion representative Lisa Gullison.
'There are only a few tickets left, and the bands plan on playing until close,' Karr added.
Yukon MP Larry Bagnell will be among the attendees at the Legion event on New Year's Eve.
'I have a tobogganing engagement early in the evening, although I don't know how that will go over, since there is little snow,' Bagnell said.
'Afterwards, I plan on heading down to the Legion.'
In the event the Legion event is sold out, the Yukon Inn will be hosting Clash of The Titans: Battle of the Bands.
This event will be taking place upstairs in the Fireside Room, not to be confused with the Fireweed Cabin the other upstairs venue in the hotel.
According to David Prodan, the general manager of the Frostbite Music Society and co-organizer of the event, 'Some of the best bands in Whitehorse will be playing there on New Year's Eve.'
Rock bands Nemesis and Friend Called Five are two of the featured acts.
'There will be four established bands performing their sets, and five newer bands who will take part in the actual battle. The winner of the battle of the bands will be awarded a stage appearance at the (February) Frostbite Music Festival,' Prodan added.
Prodan, Jordi Jones (the co-owner of Triple J's Music), Eric Ireland (lead singer and guitarist of Nemesis) and Moira Sauer (a RUSH-FM radio voice/ theater performer) will be judging the contestants.
The Clash of the Titans event is sponsored by the Yukon Brewing Company, Rainbow Studios, RUSH-FM and Triple J'S Music.
For a fee of $25, 'You get to see nine bands that's about $3 per band... and there will be a buffet.' said Jones, an event co-organizer.
'Get your tickets at Triple J'S or the Yukon Brewing Company soon because over half the tickets are already sold,' she added.
Downstairs in the same building there will be a New Year's karaoke experience. The Songbird Lounge (formerly The Boiler Room) will stay the course with its weekend planning and invite guests to brave the microphone.
For those who would prefer to see some DJ-ing sets, check out Steve E. Wunda and DJ KJ at the Capital Hotel. The $10 cover charge guarantees you heavy bass and a good time, according to bar staff.
Paddy's has a $10-event planned for New Year's Eve, according to owner Patrick Singh.
Paddy's Pub is 'the old Backwater' next to the '98 Hotel.
'There will be goodies, and Joey Only will be playing some folk-rock music,' according to Singh.
Lizards Lounge will feature its established house band, The Swamp Donkeys. The band has been known to cover anything from Tom Petty to Eurythmics to Outkast. Ten dollars gets you a pop music fix and midnight snacks.
Shenanigan's, the other Town & Mountain Hotel Lounge, will have midnight snacks, champagne toasting and good music for a $10-cover charge.
Hotel 202 has one of the most affordable events for the waning hours of 2005. A mere $5 is the admission cost to see Dave Stone & Friends.
Stone is well-known for his multi-instrumental talent and his ability to pay tribute to a wide variety of artists from many musical genres.
At midnight, there will be snacks and toasting at the 202 Lounge.
The Elks Lodge has this New Year's Eve's only bingo event. Bingo cards go on sale at 4 p.m. and the dabbing begins at 6 p.m.
A $50-entry fee yields a 12-pack of cards and, according to staff, 'There are some big cash prizes.'
New Year's Eve is a time for revelers to pre-plan designated driving arrangements.
Those whose vehicle insurance is covered by Firth & Son Insurance (celebrating its 100-year anniversary in September 2006) can get home safely should they require a lift.
'Call a cab if you are headed anywhere within Whitehorse's city limits. We have had this New Year's policy in place for many years now,' said Howard Firth, owner of the insurance company.
He plans on spending a 'low-key evening' with friends and family this New Year's Eve.
For those headed to Haines Junction, Watson Lake or Dawson City for New Year's, here are some tips.
In Dawson, the mainstay Pit bar is the place to be in the Westminster Hotel, a.k.a. 'The Pink Palace.'
The Pit Crew band, featuring The Walrus, Willie Gordon and other regular performers, will play until closing time, as they are known to on most given nights of the year.
As far as the bar staff were aware, as of Thursday, admission to the event will be free.
Tim Brecht will be playing at The Belevedere in Watson Lake. Great entertainment, snacks and champagne at midnight are covered for $35.
