A 65-year-old American visitor from Michigan died over the past weekend after crashing his motorcycle near Watson Lake.

Watson Lake RCMP were called to the scene of a single-vehicle motorcycle collision at around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, RCMP Sgt. Cam Lockwood confirmed today.

The crash happened on the Alaska Highway about 70 kilometres west of Watson Lake.

Lockwood described the conditions at the time as "sunny and 25 degrees.”

The officer suggested the motorcyclist may have drifted to the shoulder of the road and lost control of his bike.

The man's name is not being released at the request of his family.
