A vehicle roll-over on Monday afternoon near Marsh Lake took the life of Riverdale resident Gary Lines.
Yukon Chief coroner Sharon Hanley released the 47-year-old man's name Thursday, along with some details of the mishap.
It occurred a few kilometres south of the M'Clintock Bridge on the Alaska Highway.
"The driver (Lines) lost control of his vehicle, it rolled down an embankment and the (pickup) truck landed on its roof," she said.
An RCMP press relase stated the driver was "partially ejected from the vehicle."
"I would say he died quickly on impact," Hanley said.
Police officers and ambulance attendants from Whitehorse and Marsh Lake reached the scene too late to try to revive Lines, she added.
RCMP Sgt. Glenn Ramsay said police believe Lines was not wearing his seatbelt when his truck rolled over.
Lines was the sole occupant of the vehicle. No one else was injured.
Lines moved to Whitehorse from British Columbia several years ago.
A former assistant pressman at the Star, he later worked for Home Hardware and was employed at Total Fire Protection Services at the time of his death.
He leaves a family in Whitehorse and family members in British Columbia.
